SCS receives support from annual events and special activities. There is absolutely no cost to the agency for any of these events, so 100% of dollars contributed supports our clients and programs. We are extremely grateful to the generous donors who provide these fundraising events and to those who participate.
Sarah Alvarez-Horine attended the SCS auction last year, and came up with a creative idea to help raise money for SCS. She partnered with Sue Kim, owner of the new Sunnyvale Art Gallery, and together they and their families are hosting the first-ever Miniature Art Show and Raffle benefiting SCS from March 1 - 30th, 2012 at the gallery. They are soliciting donations of "miniature" works of art in all mediums from local artists. Contact sv.minishow@gmail.com for requirements and entry form if you would like to make an artwork to donate. There will be an opening reception on Saturday, March 3rd from 5 - 8 pm at the Sunnyvale Art Gallery. Following receptions are on March 10th, 17th, and 24th from 2 – 5 pm. The gallery is located at 251 W. El Camino Real, Sunnyvale, CA 94087 408.737.8188.

Saturday, June 23rd, 2012 - Jerry and Julie Nabhan and Rebecca Buldo of Specialty Solid Waste and Recycling (Sunnyvale’s garbage company) host a fantastic annual event held not at the aromatic dump itself but in the corporate parking lot. Sunnyvale Rotary Club is the event sponsor for the second year in a row. The terrific food includes appetizers and the best barbecued steak, chicken, and salmon you’ve ever tasted, grilled to perfection by Sunnyvale Public Safety Officers. It’s the event of the summer for business and community leaders in Sunnyvale and Silicon Valley! There is a raffle with terrific prizes as well as a silent auction. Proceeds benefit SCS and several other nonprofits. This trashy affair is not to be missed.
Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Sunnyvale Community Services. Get your holiday shopping done early! The talented ladies in the SCS Auxiliary work all year ‘round creating one-of-a-kind gifts, holiday decorations, and home-made jams and baked goods. You can buy raffle tickets in advance or at the event for a beautiful queen-sized quilt, all hand-stitched by members of the Auxiliary.

Sunday, Dec. 2nd, 2012 from 1 – 4 pm. Come tour the SCS warehouse, all decorated for the Community Christmas Center. During December, we will distribute 2 weeks of food plus toys and household gifts to over 1,500 families. Join us on Thursday, November 29, 2012, when Sunnyvale Community Services and the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce will host the annual auction to benefit the Community Christmas Center. Come and bid on one-of-a-kind items, including spa packages, wines, trips, dinners, and jewelry; and see our warehouse beautifully decorated for the holidays. Delicious appetizers, desserts, wine, and beverages are all donated. 100% of the proceeds from the auction go to support food and holiday toys for needy families in our community. The event takes place from 5:00 – 7:30 pm at Sunnyvale Community Services at 725 Kifer Road (between Wolfe and Fair Oaks) in Sunnyvale. There is no admission fee to the auction though we ask for a donation of a bag of groceries, a new gift (especially for 7-12 year olds and teens), or new household gift (towels, blankets, basic kitchen items).
Please contact Marie Bernard at (408) 738-0121 mbernard@svcommunictyservices.org if you have something to donate or would like more information about the event.
