SCS receives support from annual events and special activities. There is absolutely no cost to the agency for any of these events, so 100% of dollars contributed supports our clients and programs. We are extremely grateful to the generous donors who provide these fundraising events and to those who participate.

Each year just before the holidays, the Sunnyvale Chamber of Commerce hosts an auction to benefit SCS’ Community Christmas Center in our building at 725 Kifer Road. There is no admission fee to the auction though we ask for a donation of canned goods, a new toy, or household gift (towels, blankets, basic kitchen items). Joe Antuzzi, owner of Il Postale, provides dinner for everyone. Network Appliance provides the wine and volunteer auction staff. 30-35 items comprise the oral auction, with about 200 more in the silent auction. The list of auction items is updated daily, so be sure to check it frequently.
Please contact us if you have something to donate or would like more information about the event.
Jerry and Julie Nabhan and Rebecca Buldo of Specialty Solid Waste and Recycling (Sunnyvale’s garbage company) host a fantastic annual event held not at the aromatic dump itself but in the corporate parking lot. The terrific food includes delicacies from Seafood Cove and the best barbecued steak, chicken, and salmon you’ve ever tasted!
There is a raffle with terrific prizes. The event is so successful that attendance grew from 300 the first year, to over 650 in 2006, to over 800 in 2007.
Proceeds benefit SCS, Leadership Sunnyvale, and four nonprofits supported by the Sunnyvale Rotary Club. Check the website for updates on the next Dinner at the Dump.
Jua and Taneerat Rattanaphun, owners of the Thai Basil restaurants, donate a banquet dinner to SCS without any cost to the agency whatsoever. We appreciate their wonderful generosity as well as their absolutely fantastic food, named best in the area by the San Jose Mercury News. The 2008 dinner is April 7. Call 738-0121 for details.
